My science...

I study host-pathogen interactions at the intestinal interface using animal models of infection. My current project characterizes bacterial and host factors that mediate Salmonella colonization of the intestinal tract.

When not in lab...

I sing in a choir on campus (The University Singers) and enjoy the area's vibrant theater scene. Since moving to the Bay Area I have become an avid hiker, and spend weekends among the redwoods or along the coast.

I am also involved with a number of education outreach and mentoring programs on campus, including the Oral Communication Program at the Stanford Hume Center for Writing and Speaking, the Stanford Office for Pre-Collegiate Studies, the Stanford at the Tech Program, and the non-profit Science is Elementary.
